The design elements in Marie’s paintings are associated with the Yerrampe – Honey Ant Dreaming and Tyape –Witchetty Grub dreaming from her grandfather’s country Alkwepetye which is located 220kms north east of Alice Springs in Central Australia.

The linear design throughout the painting signifies awelye – women’s ceremonial body paint design and also the undulating landscape of Alkwepetye country. Significant sites for the Honeyant story within this landscape are indicated by the more prominent dot
