Nakita was born in Alice Springs, August 1990 (Arrernte language group). Nakita attended OLSH Primary and OLSH Trager High School, Alice Springs. Her mother is Marie Ryder and grandmother Therese Ryder are both accomplished artist. Kevin Bird is her step father also an accomplished artist.

Nakita developed her artistic skills as she watched and learned from her mother Marie Ryder.

Nakita’s paintings is associated with the stories from her mother’s country, Alkwepetye, located near the Bushy Park region of Central Australia approximately 230km north east of Alice Springs.
