Gary’s painting depicts a map of his ‘big country’ – Ilkawerne. It shows important sites, rock holes, soakage’s, tracks and roads. All these tracks and roads are leading to the most significant site;  Aremela.  In the Dreamtime, Utnea – a gentle, quiet serpent made his way through this country creating the landscape, tracks and sites.

Ilkawerne lays approximately 200kms north east of Alice Springs in Central Australia.
