Karen’s painting is representative of the Alpar – rattail plant.  This herbaceous plant is valued for its abundance of tiny black edible seeds.   These seeds, illustrated, can be soaked in water and used as a medicinal wash or ground and mixed with animal fat and used as an ointment

This dreaming belongs to her father’s country, Ilkawerne, situated approx 250 km North East of Alice Springs.
